Oops! Games NOT cancelled on November 30th and Dec 7th
Does anyone know how much I dislike making up the schedule. ? LOTS! that’s how much. I was inputting the second half of the season for our schedule and read the Kootenay Ice schedule incorrectly. The games scheduled for November 30th and December 7th are still going ahead. You will receive your email reminders as normal. The schedule on the website for your team is now the official schedule barring any other changes. My apologies for any confusion. Hey so if you showed up you could always drink beer. Remember, we’re not here for the hockey. JB ?

Spare list has been updated
The spare list has been updated from the information that we have on the website. These are people who have paid their insurance and completed all their paperwork. Spares are reminded that they have to pay 20.00 per day played. If you come out to spare and you decide to play more than one game, great but you must pay the 20.00 for the first game played. Thank You! We made it! (just)
With a lot of prodding and chasing, we were able to get everyone registered for the city sports pass system. It really is imperative that people see to getting these passes early in the year. So unless something happens in the next 12 months, after you register for hockey and you need a pass, just go straight to the arena and get one. These are the city’s rules, not ours and as long as we continue to use their facilities we are subject to their rules. And I don’t see anyone digging a hole to start building a private arena.

Thanksgiving Sunday (October 12 )
Thanks everyone for the response on the survey. The response was great and from that we requested a cancellation from the city for this Sunday. Unfortunately we did not get our request to them in time to make the two week advance for cancellations. So what does this mean? It means games go ahead this sunday (sort of) What we thought we would do is run the first three games 2:45 pm Heritage(blue) vs Rella (White) 4:15 pm Culligan (baby poop green) vs Ron’s Collision (black) 5:45 pm Country Hardwood (black) vs Bridge Interiors (white) People who are wscheduled to play in the later games are invited to come out and “spare” at any of the 3 early games and drink a few beers (or vice versa) With the number of people who said that they couldn’t make it, we should have just the right numbers for some fun old timer’s hockey. If you are going to come out and play, just show up and we will make it work. Remember, we’re not here for the hockey. JB

Thanksgiving Sunday games survey
With more than 80 members voting, the vote tally was 53 votes or a 60% majority to cancel the games for the Sunday of the thanks giving weekend. We have made this request to the city but because we are inside the two week advance window we may NOT be able to cancel the games. We will send out the results of our request as soon as we get them and adjust the schedule accordingly. Thanks to everyone who took the time to vote. It’s gratifying to me to have more people use the website in the second year. Cheers,

Sports Pass Requirements
A reminder to all players. The city of Cranbrook requires all users of recreational facilities to either be a city resident (proof required) or the holder of a valid sports pass. The costs to the league are in the $8,000 range which is an amount we cannot afford given our current rate structure. The deadline for buying a sports pass or showing proof of residency is October 14th. We have been guaranteed by the city that there will be NO extensions. Emails reminders have been sent to people who require passes or proof of residency. These conditions of use are set by the city, not the league, and we have no choice but to enforce these requirements. ?
