Final AGM as President – Reflections & Farewell

AGM Tonight – A Look Back at Four Great Years As I sit here composing what will be my last President’s report for the AGM, I’m struck by how quickly the past four years have flown by. Running this league alongside the executive has been an incredible experience. We’ve accomplished a lot, and I am particularly proud of launching the KCOHL website and online registration system. It was built to make life easier for our league, and I hope it continues to be a great resource. Giving BackBeyond the league operations, the most rewarding aspect of this role has been our charitable efforts. This afternoon, I completed my final duty as President by presenting a $3,500 cheque to Cranbrook KidSport, following last week’s donation to the Youth Impact Centre. These choices were made by all of you—this is your league, and I was just here to help guide it. Looking to the FutureNot everything has been perfect, and there will always be room for improvement. But for the next executive, my advice is simple: take your time, build on what we’ve created, and make decisions that best serve the league. Thank YouMy sincere gratitude goes to Wayne W. and Brandon C.—without their support, running the league would have been much more difficult. To the new executive, I offer my experience, my advice when needed, and my full support. Thank you for an amazing four years! Jonathan B.

Inland Kenworth Wins the KCOHL Trophy

Championship Recap – A Battle to the End! After two hard-fought semifinal games that both required overtime, Genex Marketing and Inland Kenworth faced off in an intense KCOHL Championship. The pace was high (for us!), and both teams came ready to compete. Genex jumped out to an early lead in the first period, while Inland Kenworth struggled to gain momentum. The second period saw heavy penalties, but each team capitalized on their power plays, keeping the game tight. At the end of regulation, the game was tied, sending us to a 5-minute overtime. With only seconds remaining, Jake B. found the back of the net, securing the KCOHL Trophy and the coveted championship flasks for Inland Kenworth for the 2016-17 season! A Toast to the Game In what may have been his final game in the KCOHL, Barry M. summed up the emotions of the night best with his post-game comment: “Pass me a beer, will you?” Final Thanks A huge thank you to everyone who made this season great, including JJ, Swirsky, Wilf D., Bill & Linda S. Special appreciation to Brandon C. and Wayne W.—without their leadership, this league wouldn’t be what it is today. Looking Ahead – Golf Tournament The Annual Golf Tournament is scheduled for May 27 at Cranbrook Golf Course. Stay tuned for details, and check the website for updates. Thanks for a great season—see you on the course!

Annual Christmas Foodraiser & Party – Dec 20th

Join Us for the KCOHL Christmas Party & FoodRaiser! Being a part of an elite gentlemen’s hockey club (we’re still debating which part is elite) comes with some great social benefits—one of which is our annual Christmas Party & FoodRaiser for the Cranbrook Food Bank. Join us on Sunday, December 20, starting after the first game, in Dressing Room 5. Expect good food, great company, and an even greater cause. Last year, we raised the equivalent of 1,200 lbs of food—let’s see if we can top that this year!
