It was a beauty of a day at the 2025 Key City Oldtimers Golf Tournament and Banquet – great weather, great company, and a great reminder of how solid this league and community really are.
Thanks to everyone who attended, bought raffle tickets, bid on prizes, shared a laugh, and raised a glass. Your support helped us pull off an event we can all be proud of – and more importantly, it helped the league put $20,000 straight back into the community.

🏌️ Event Highlights & Big Thanks
The tournament and banquet were a huge success – from the first tee-off to the final raffle draw. Some lucky folks walked away with top-notch silent auction prizes, raffle items, and of course, bragging rights from the golf course.
A few shoutouts are in order:
- 🙌 Thanks to the Cranbrook Golf Club for hosting and running the day smoothly.
- 🎤 Massive thanks to David Standing, our celebrity MC, for keeping the dinner portion tight and on track.
- 🏆 Congrats to all award winners – Both on the course and on the ice – you earned it.
- 💪 Special Congrats to Ken Bridge who rightfully received recognition as the supporter of the year award for his 20+ years of sponsorship and involvement.
- 💰 And a heartfelt thanks to all the hole sponsors and prize donors – your contributions made this event (and our fundraising) possible.
Check out some photos from hole 10, thank you Corduroy Life Photography.
💸 Where the Money Went: $20,000 Raised and Donated
This year, thanks to your generosity and support, we raised and donated a total of $20,000 back into the community. Close to half the league helped choose where the funds should go, and the final results are in:
- 🎓 $2,500 – Two Student Scholarships ($1,250 each)
- ❤️ $2,500 each to the following organizations:
- KidSport
- Cranbrook Food Bank
- Foundry East Kootenay (Youth Mental Health)
- Cranbrook/Kimberley Hospice Society
- East Kootenay Foundation for Health (EKFH – Opa! / Northstar Tournament)
- East Kootenay SPCA
- Angel Flight East Kootenay
We couldn’t be prouder to be part of a league that gives back in a real, tangible way.
📝 Looking Ahead: Early Registration + Constitution Update
We’re opening up registration for next season early this year – and we’ll be offering a payment plan option to help make things more manageable as ice time fees continue to rise.
We already have ice times secured for the November tournament (November 14, 15 and 16) and the year end tournament (March 27, 28 and 29 – end of spring break). Final prices are being sorted with the city now – once that’s done, we’ll send out the registration link.
Also on deck: a fairly major constitutional update. We’ve pulled out the league’s rules and operational matters into a new set of bylaws, while tightening up how the constitution reflects how the league is actually ran – it’s overdue for some amendments as a lot has changed since 1998. A draft will be shared with all players soon for feedback. After review, the changes will go to a vote (team reps + exec) and will require a 75% majority to be adopted.
The goal is to establish clarity, structure, and a strong foundation for future league leadership.
