Hello Gentlemen,

The KCOHL year end tournament is coming up quickly and we wanted to send out some important details so everyone knows what to expect.

Tournament Schedule & Seeding

The tournament game slot schedule is posted here. Initial matchups will be based on final league standings and overall win/loss records from the regular season. Teams will be seeded accordingly to start the tournament.

One team will receive a bye in the first round depending on final standings. The team with a bye will automatically advance to the next round and will play the winner of the corresponding group.

Once the schedule is finalized, game times will also be added into the TeamLinkt app so everyone has a single place to review when they play. As games are completed, teams will be slotted into the semi finals and finals based on tournament results.

Extra Energy Game

We will once again run the Extra Energy Game during the tournament. This is meant primarily for players whose teams are eliminated early and who may only get two games during the weekend.

There will be a sign up sheet in the bar in the mezzanine during the tournament. If your team is still advancing to the semi finals, please be mindful of that and leave the Extra Energy spots for players who would otherwise get limited ice time.

Volunteers Needed

This tournament is one of the league’s biggest charity fundraising events of the year, so we need a few volunteers to help things run smoothly. We are looking for players to help with:
  • Beer delivery volunteers: Deliver beer to dressing rooms, collect cash and return it to the bar area
  • Teardown volunteers: Sunday at 4:30 PM following the final game
No need to let anyone know - we're just looking for guys that are available during the tournament (and specifically that Sunday afternoon for tear down).

Player Attendance Requirements (VERY IMPORTANT)

To help teams plan properly:
  • Players must notify their team representative at least one week before the tournament if they will be attending.
  • If teams have fewer than 10 players, the league may assign a spare.
  • If players do not notify their team rep in advance, there is no guarantee a spare will be available.
  • If a team enters the playoffs with less than 10 players attending, the league will designate a spare from the league pool.
NOTE: A Tournament rulebook will be provided once the schedule is finalized.

Jerseys

All jerseys must be returned after your individual player’s final game or your team’s final game. Please do not take them home for the summer. if you won't be playing in the tournament please coordinate with your team rep to return your jerseys at your next game.

The league collects all jerseys so they can be washed, folded, and organized to ensure every team has a full set for next season.

Pucks

Please make sure pucks are brought to games and returned afterward. They will be stored in a bucket and used throughout the tournament for warmups and gameplay.

Charity Fundraiser

The year end tournament is all about fun, camaraderie, and giving back. This event is also an important charity fundraiser. All proceeds from liquor sales, raffle tickets, food, and merchandise go 100 percent back to charity.

Before the golf tournament later this year, we will send out a survey asking where you would like to see the funds allocated.

Raffle/Prize Donations

One of the biggest parts of the fundraiser is our raffle prize table. If anyone would like to donate a prize, please drop it off at East Kootenay Realty or contact President Nault and he can pick it up.
You can call, text, or send him your finest cat memes at (250) 417-9027.

League Recognition Event

On Saturday around 6:00 PM the KCOHL will be hosting a league recognition event in the mezzanine when no KCOHL teams are playing. The beer will be cold, the hot dogs will be cooking, and we will take some time to recognize a few players for their contributions (and antics) throughout the season. It should be a great time with plenty of laughs, so make sure you stop by.

Thanks everyone, and we look forward to a great tournament weekend.
