Every active KCOHL player is automatically added to the Extra Shift Spares List, giving players the chance to fill in when other teams are short players. Depending on what you selected during registration, you may or may not currently receive notifications for these opportunities. The good news — it’s simple to manage your preferences anytime.

Step 1: Reset Your Password

If you’ve never logged into the Spares App (note: this is separate from TeamLinkt), you’ll first need to set up your password:

  1. Go to https://www.kcohl.ca/spares/
  2. Click “Forgot Password”
  3. Enter the same email address you used to register for the season with TeamLinkt
  4. Check your inbox (and spam folder) for a reset link
  5. Click the link and set your new password — this will be your login moving forward

If you ever forget it, you can reset your password anytime using the same process.

Step 2: Log In and Update Your Preferences

Once logged in at https://www.kcohl.ca/spares/, you’ll land on your Player Dashboard.
Click Edit Profile and update the following:

  • Mobile Number: Ensure it’s correct if you want to receive text notifications.
  • Notification Method: Choose Text, Email, or both. If you prefer not to receive extra game invites, select “Unsubscribed.”
  • Blackout Dates: Add any dates you’ll be away so you won’t receive invites during that time.
  • Preferred Positions: Select Forward, Defense, or both — you’ll only receive invites for positions you choose.

How the Spare System Works

The Extra Shift system helps ensure every game has a full lineup:

  • When a team is short players, their Team Rep sends out invites, usually 1–2 days before a game.
  • Registered spares receive invites first and get about a 30-minute head start.
  • If no registered spares accept, invites go out to all other eligible players based on position.
  • Once positions are filled, others will see a “no positions left” message. Please only show up if you’ve accepted an invite.
  • When you do accept, you’ll receive an email and/or text confirming your spot along with the Team Rep’s contact info.
  • The system rotates invites fairly, giving everyone a chance to play extra games over time.
